| Millar Men Enjoy Eston Tournament
|
The Millar Men traveled out to Eston this weekend to join seven other teams in the annual Eston Hockey Tournament. Captain Seth Maier reports that the team came out very strong in their first game and had fantastic communication which lead them to a win. However, in the second game the team seemed tired and lacked the ability to finish.
The team placed 6th overall in the tournament, and although they headed home earlier than they would have liked, Maier says that with such a great group of guys on the team it was a fun weekend regardless of where they landed in the standings.

Rhineland Team Wins Alumni 4 on 4 Hockey Tournament! |
| | |
This past weekend was a full one as the Millar hockey team took to the ice to take part in the Alumni 4on4 hockey tournament that Millar hosts in Vanguard each year. This year eight teams were entered in the tournament. Teams from both Melfort and Nipawin made the drive down to play in the tournament against the closer to home, Vanguard, Rhineland, Eston, and Millar Teams. The final two teams to round out the tournament were built of alumni and friends who came to join the fun.
Although the days were warm and the ice was a little soft, the players made the best of it and played hard, enjoying each game as it came. There were some great goals scored, as well as some incredible saves made. A steady fan base was out to cheer on the teams in the little rink, and in the semi final, the Millar Men met up against the Alumni 1 team. The game was well played and stayed competitive throughout the duration. However, with home town hero, Peter Buhler starting the Alumni scoring off, three others quickly followed suit, and the Alumni team won the bronze medal game with a score of 4-2.
In the final, two visiting team, Rhineland and Nipawin, found themselves battling for the treasured t-shirts! Nipawin fought hard and enjoyed their game, but in the end Rhineland was just too strong, finishing the game with a decisive 9-2 win. Thanks to everyone who came out and watched as well as played, and congratulations to the Rhineland team who won the 4on4 tournament this year.
