Millar Athletics Vision

It is the consuming desire of the Millar teams that we, individually and as a team, function in such a way as to bring glory to God, build each other up and draw unbelievers to the Lord.

BATTLE OF THE SOUTHWEST (TUESDAY, MARCH 2)
On Tuesday night the Great Plains Sundogs hosted the Battle of the Southwest: Basketball Edition! This was the first time that the cup has been hosted in the Sundogs home gym, and that didn't stop the Millar fans from packing the gym and strongly cheering their Edge Men on to a win! Millar played the game through with a tough edge that kept the Sundogs at a distance from hopes of the cup with a finishing score of 87-54. 4th Year Veteran, Stephen Luff, reports that his team was shooting amazingly well. "We sunk most of what we shot," he says as he recalls the game.

The men continued on Wednesday to play an exhibition game against a men's team from Swift Current at home in their Millar gym. The size of the Swift Current men proved to be a challenge to handle for the Millar men, and Millar finished the game with a disappointing 63-93 score. However, it was a learning experience and helped give the team more practice time as the PAC and ACAL finals approach.

Next action for the men comes this weekend when they host both CUC team, as well as the Alumni and Friends tournament. Come out and watch the games!

St. Mary's Lightening-14 points---- +/- 179

Millar Edge- 14 points ---- +/- 100

Millar Teams Enjoy Weekend at Bethany PAC Tournament
February 26-27, 2010
Millar Women Stand Atop PAC Indoor Soccer League
The Millar Ladies Indoor Soccer team played a fantastic tournament this weekend in Hepburn, Saskatchewan where they met up against Bethany College, Nipawin Bible Institute, and Briercrest College and Seminary.

'We played a really strong tournament,' says Millar keeper, Sandy Thiessen.
'Our team played really hard and was able to finish the round robin with a 3-0 record. We beat Nipawin in the semi-final with a score of 6-0, and then went on to face Briercrest in the final. Our girls played really hard, but we encountered a few defensive breakdowns, and faced some fantastic shots from Briercrest that resulted in goals. In the second half we were sitting at a score of 4-1, but with some determination we were able to bring the score back up to 4-3 with only a few minutes left in play. We hit crossbars and posts, but couldn't find the net to tie up the game. It was frustrating to lose to a team we had beaten earlier, but it was a fun game and I think we learned lots from it. We'll see them again in two weeks and it should be a good match up again!'

Thiessen's team has two weeks to work on things before they meet up against the PAC teams again in their home tournament on March 12-13.

In the Men's side of the tournament, the Millar team finished the round robin in second place and went on to the semi-final against third place Briercrest, and were beaten in a decisive 10-0 loss. Coach Phil Ruten says with a chuckle that it's always good for a team to get beaten early on in the season, and he hopes that game can be a growing experience for his team.

Congratulations to both Sandy Thiessen and Michael Ruten for winning the Tournament All-Star awards for their respective teams.
