Which Bible Should I Bring?

You will need one basic Bible for study purposes – CSB, NASB, ESV, NIV are recommended. Feel free to bring any other Bibles as additional resources.

If you bring only one Bible please avoid paraphrases (e.g. The Message, Living Bible, Amplified)

How much storage do I have?

Your room is a shared space with multiple roommates. Please keep this in mind with the number of things that you bring with you for the school year. There will be space in a covered outdoor area for bigger sporting equipment like bikes.

What is dorm life like?

You will have two or three roommates and will be a part of a Community Life Group (CLG) that meets weekly. Each CLG has a Community Life Leader (CLL) and a Community Life Assistant (CLA) who work together to lead the CLG in Christ-centered community living. Your room has a bed, desk, chair, and a place to hang your clothing. You have access to laundry facilities, a shared kitchen, and student lounges.

What if I need to see a doctor?

Shuswap Lake General Hospital and a number of medical clinics are located in Salmon Arm, 22 km east of Sunnybrae. Bring your health card (not just the number) with you for the year.

Where will I go to church?

Each student will be attending a church that is off-campus and is connected to their Field Education. They will commit to attending Sunday mornings for the duration of their time at college.

Will I have a mentor?

As a core value, mentoring is vital in your college experience. Each student is connected with a mentor with whom they meet once a week. A mentor is a listening ear, a prayer partner, a new or different perspective, an accountability partner, a friend.

What is winter travel like?

Due to our British Columbia weather and location, there will be days and possibly weekends throughout winter when we will encourage students to stay on campus. Ultimately it is up to students to make wise choices.

Can I get a ride to the airport?

If you are arriving or departing by plane via Kelowna or Kamloops you will need to make arrangements for transport to Sunnybrae from the airport. If you’re catching a ride with fellow students, please help cover their travel expenses. If not, please contact the office at least 2 weeks before arriving (flat fee of $100 for pickup). Students arriving before the scheduled dates are responsible to find their own accommodations.

Financial Information

  • Semester Fees

The basic fees for a dorm student for each semester are as follows:

    Tuition: $4,200.00

    Room & Board: $3,575.00

    Total: $7,750.00 (Full year = $15,500.00)

Textbooks, Music Lessons, and Outdoor Edge Fees are not included. Other fees not included:

Dorm Room Damage Deposit: $200 (one-time, refundable)

Please see page 28 of our 2023-24 Catalogue for more details, including our refund policy.

  • Student fees cover the majority of a student’s cost to attend Millar, but a significant amount is graciously provided by donations from alumni and friends of the college.

Fees are due at business registration at the beginning of each semester. Semester fees not paid by the last business day of the opening month will be charged a finance fee of $25. Additionally, a monthly overdue charge of 1% of the unpaid balance is charged on the last business day of each month thereafter.

Payment can be made by cheque, e-Transfer, debit card, cash, MasterCard, Visa, or PayPal. When semester fees are paid in full at the time of registration by cheque, e-Transfer, debit card or cash, we offer a $100 discount. E-Transfers can be sent to finance@millarcollege.ca by autodeposit (without any security question). PayPal payments can be made here: www.paypal.me/MillarCollege – the $100 discount will not apply as PayPal charges fees similar to credit card fees.

  • Students who are applying for government student loans and grants are advised to apply as early as possible to avoid late charges on their account. Information is available online at www.canada.ca (click or search Student Aid). You will need to plan for financing of any costs that are not covered by your loan.

  • Entrance bursary applications can be downloaded from the Apply Today page and the application deadline is June 1st. Students will be assessed for government grants by applying through the student loan process. Please see page 29 of our 2023-24 Catalogue for further information about Financial Assistance.
